Job summary

XSIT (Pty) Ltd invites applications for an Extruder Line Operator at the Citrusdal Facility. The role focuses on maximizing output by following extrusion protocols, maintaining safety and biosecurity, and ensuring daily quality checks.

The successful candidate will work with the Extruder Controller and Line Supervisor, adhere to 5S principles, and participate in handovers and meetings. Weekend shifts and extended hours may be required.

Qualifications

• Matric or equivalent required; tertiary training in related field preferred.
• Experience in extrusion or production environments is advantageous.
• Ability to work in a team and follow standard operating procedures.

Responsibilities

• Ensure production processes in the Extruder Room follow established protocols to maximize output.
• Assist with day-to-day Extruder Room operations per approved procedures.
• Provide feedback to supervisor on production performance and incidents.
• Maintain housekeeping and biosecurity standards throughout the facility.
• Support the Extruder Controller and Line Supervisor with operational tasks.

Job description

XSIT has a vacancy for an Extruder Line Operator to join the XSIT team at the Citrusdal Facility.

Overall, Purpose:

The Extruder Operator position requires the incumbent to make sure that all processes inside the Extruder room are performed for maximum output (moths) according to protocols and that all policies and procedures are adhere to by all employees.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure all production processes are carried out according to established protocols to maximize production output.
• Assist with the day-to-day operations of the Extruder Room, ensuring all tasks are completed in accordance with approved procedures.
• Provide feedback to the Extruder Controller and/or Line Supervisor on production processes and identify areas where corrective action is required including production processes, operational performance, and any incidents within the Extruder Room.
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping and cleanliness inside and outside the facility to support biosecurity requirements.
• Assist the Extruder Controller and Line Supervisor with any operational tasks required to ensure optimal department performance.
• Monitor production output and waste, taking appropriate action to minimize losses and improve efficiency.
• Perform daily quality checks to ensure products meet quality standards and implement corrective actions where necessary.
• Ensure effective communication by participating in daily handovers, team meetings, and adhering to all company policies and procedures.
• Implement and maintain 5S principles, ensuring housekeeping, cleanliness, and Health and Safety standards are consistently upheld.

Degree of Supervision received (How often, how, by whom):

• Perform assigned duties efficiently and effectively with minimal supervision.
• Comply with all Health and Safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements to maintain a safe working environment.

Education & Training:

• Matric and/or any tertiary training in the related field.
• Valid forklift and/or driver’s license.
• Works in an environment that has moderate occupational hazards, both mechanical and biological (allergens).
• Will need to work extended hours, including weekends, public holidays, shifts as well as when necessary.

Experience:

Min of 1 years’ experience in the production and extruder & quality departments, understanding the processes, rules, and regulations within.

Characteristics:

• Understanding of extruder systems and procedures.
• Able to work efficiently in a team environment.
• The ability to motivate employees.
• Ability to construct and/or interpret data quality and numbers.
• Performance orientation and meeting all production standards.
• Speaks & understand English and Afrikaans.
• Ability to work independently.
