Job summary

Omnia Group's BME Newcastle operation is seeking an Operator (Explosives Truck) to load blast holes with explosive products using a mixer-placer truck, while ensuring inspection and maintenance tasks are performed according to BME standards.

The role requires Grade 12 with Mathematics, EC Code 14 license, and Dangerous Goods/Passengers permit, along with experience in heavy vehicle operation within mining environments.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 (Mathematics) required.
• EC License – Code 14 (EC) required.
• Dangerous Goods and Passengers permit (DGP) required.

Responsibilities

• Ensures that all SHERQ requirements are met.
• Receives the charging instruction from the Blaster.
• Inspects holes and measurements to ensure correct depth.
• Reports out of spec holes to the blaster.
• Calculates correct mass of product per hole; reports discrepancies to Foreman.
• Inspects pumps/settings before pumping.
• Takes product samples and analyses density before charging.
• Reports out of spec analyses to Foreman; ensures product quality.
• Reports out of spec settings or equipment to Foreman; ensures mechanical readiness.
• Engages pumping and loads holes according to design specs with SHERQ compliance.
• Takes samples as per BME standards; records on loading sheets.
• Completes loading sheets and pre-use checklists per BME standards.
• Completes grease schedules, calibrations, and truck performance.
• Supervises the Truck Assistant.
