Job summary

Omnia Holdings invites applications for a Diesel Mechanic at Kolomela, Northern Cape, South Africa. The role focuses on diagnosing diesel vehicles, repairing engine and transmission components, and maintaining detailed service records.

You will work within the Operations unit, adhering to SHERQ principles and safety standards. Required are Grade 12 (Mathematics), a Code 10 licence and a Diesel Mechanic Trade Test Certificate (Red Seal), plus 3 years of relevant experience.

• 3 years' demonstrated experience as a Diesel Mechanic (Truck and LDV)
• Experience in an Explosives environment is advantageous

Responsibilities

• Running diagnostic tests on diesel vehicles and analyzing results.
• Repairing or replacing engine, steering, transmission, braking or lighting system components.
• Maintaining detailed records of serviced vehicles and ensuring correct measurement of parts to avoid waste.
• Adhering to SHERQ principles and wearing PPE.
• Maintaining a parts inventory and following inspection procedures.

Role Impact

The primary duties of a Diesel Mechanic include performing diagnostic tests on diesel vehicles to find faults, analyzing diagnostic test results and repairing or replacing engine, steering, transmission, braking or lighting system components.

Key Responsibilities

Productivity output

• Maintaining detailed records of serviced vehicles
• Ensure correct measurement of products are used to avoid production waste

Inventory handling

• Adhere to an inspection procedure checklist
• Maintaining a parts inventory

Mechanical ability

• Running diagnostic tests on vehicles.
• Analyzing diagnostic test results.
• Replacing vehicle engines, steering mechanisms, transmissions and braking systems.
• Checking vehicle lighting systems
• Performing preventative maintenance on service trucks

Adherence to sound SHERQ principles

• Wear the correct PPE
• Adhere to good housekeeping principles
• Ensure all SHERQ requirements are met

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications

• Grade 12 (Mathematics)
• Code 10 Drivers Licence
• Diesel Mechanic Trade Test Certificate (Red Seal)

Experience

• 3 year's demonstrated experience as a Diesel Mechanic (Truck and LDV).
• 3 years demonstrated knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenanc
• Proven working experience in an Explosives environment. (Advantageous)
