Placements24 is seeking a Geologist specializing in exploration to join our client in Rustenburg, North West, South Africa. You will interpret seismic data, develop geological models, and plan exploration strategies with reservoir engineers and geophysicists.

The role emphasizes de-risking prospects, field surveys, and producing technical reports and presentations. The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in Geology, 5-7 years in oil and gas exploration, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Geology or Earth Sciences.
• Master's degree preferred.
• 5-7 years of oil and gas exploration geology experience.
• Proficiency in geological modeling software and data interpretation tools.
• Strong understanding of sedimentology, structural geology, and stratigraphy.
• Experience with seismic interpretation and basin analysis.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and integrate geological, geophysical, and well log data to delineate potential hydrocarbon plays.
• Develop detailed geological models and maps of subsurface structures and stratigraphy.
• Conduct field geological surveys and reconnaissance to identify promising exploration targets.
• Collaborate with exploration teams to plan and execute seismic surveys and other geophysical investigations.
• Assess the risk and uncertainty associated with exploration prospects.
• Prepare technical reports and presentations on exploration findings and recommendations.
