Placements24 is seeking an energetic Energy Trader to join its Richards Bay trading desk. The role focuses on executing trades across oil, gas, and power markets, analyzing opportunities, and managing risk to maximize profitability.

You will monitor market developments, develop trading strategies, and collaborate with risk, operations, and research teams in a fast-paced environment. A Bachelor's degree and 3–5 years in energy trading are required, with strong quantitative and decision-making

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
• Proven experience (3-5 years) in energy commodity trading or a similar financial trading role.
• Strong understanding of energy markets, trading platforms, and risk management principles.
• Excellent analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to make quick, decisive actions under pressure and in volatile market conditions.
• Demonstrated success in developing and executing profitable trading strategies.

Responsibilities

• Execute trades for various energy commodities (oil, gas, power, coal) across different markets and exchanges.
• Conduct in-depth market research and analysis to identify trading opportunities and risks.
• Develop and implement innovative trading strategies to maximize profit and minimize risk exposure.
• Monitor market movements, news, and geopolitical events impacting energy prices.
• Manage portfolio risk, ensuring adherence to trading limits and risk management policies.
• Collaborate with risk management, operations, and research teams to ensure seamless trading operations.
