Hinds County Public Works is seeking a skilled heavy equipment operator to operate steam, gasoline or diesel-powered machinery for material handling, bridge building, earth moving, and road maintenance.
Requires a high school diploma or GED, at least three years' experience on bull dozers, motor graders, or similar equipment, and a valid Mississippi commercial driver's license. This is an at-will, non-exempt, full-time position with starting salary of $31,200.
This is skilled work in the operation of various types of heavy-duty construction equipment. The work involves operating gasoline, steam or diesel-powered machinery used in material handling, bridge building, earth moving, and excavating, grading and road maintenance. Originality and independence of action are frequently based on experience and specialized knowledge of the technical processes. Incumbent general receives project assignments from a superior who indicates specific results desired.
