INTRODUCTION
This permanent position requires flexibility and may be based on site or at the workshop, subject to operational requirements.
Minimum Requirements
N2 Qualification
Matric Certificate
Trade Certificate (Earthmoving/Diesel)
Minimum of 4 to 5 years post-trade experience in the earthmoving industry
Proven track record with the required technical skillset
Good safety record
Must be honest and reliable
Willing to relocate and able to work unsupervised
Proficient in English and Afrikaans (read, write, and speak)
Valid Driver’s Licence (Code 08)
No criminal record
Medically fit and healthy (able to pass a Medical)
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain effective working relationships with clients, staff, and management
Experience and technical knowledge on the following equipment:
Chip spreaders
Milling Machines
Recyclers
Pavers
Rollers – Asphalt
Shuttle Buggy
All machines generally use in the constructing of roads – Graders / Excavators / Dozers / Earthworks
Rollers / Trucks / etc.
Must have adequate knowledge of Hydraulic and electrical systems
Have the ability to weld – Gas and Arc
Key Performance Areas
Carry out maintenance and repairs on construction and earthmoving equipment in accordance with company procedures, safety standards, and legal requirements.
Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic faults, and perform effective repairs to minimize equipment downtime.
Conduct routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and scheduled servicing to ensure equipment remains safe, reliable, and operational.
Assess machine condition, compile inspection reports, identify repair requirements, and complete corrective actions within required timeframes.
Use OEM manuals, parts catalogues, and technical systems to accurately identify and source components and replacement parts.
Apply a structured fault-finding approach using technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic tools.
Complete all service records, inspection checklists, and maintenance documentation accurately and on time.
Maintain high standards of workmanship and quality control to maximize equipment availability and productivity on construction projects.
Report maintenance activities, equipment defects, safety concerns, hazards, and risks to the relevant supervisor on a daily basis.
Ensure that all tools, equipment, and work areas are kept clean, safe, and in good working condition.
Provide guidance, coaching, and on-the-job training to apprentices and junior mechanics to support their development and performance.
Support site operations by responding to breakdowns and carrying out repairs efficiently to minimize disruption to project activities.
