Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a proactive Environmental Scientist to conduct EIAs for projects across sectors, working remotely with field requirements in the Mahikeng region of the North West province.

You will apply environmental legislation (NEMA) and scientific methods to evaluate impacts, develop mitigation plans, and prepare detailed reports. The role involves liaising with clients, regulators, and stakeholders to ensure regulatory compliance and sustainable outcomes.

Qualifications

• MSc or Ph.D. in Environmental Science, Ecology, Geography, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in conducting Environmental Impact Assessments.
• Strong understanding of South African environmental legislation (e.g., NEMA) and EIA processes.
• Proficiency in environmental modeling software and GIS applications for spatial analysis.
• Excellent report writing, data analysis, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet strict deadlines.

• Conduct baseline environmental studies, including ecological surveys, biodiversity assessments, and impact analyses.
• Prepare detailed Environmental Impact Assessment reports, including scoping reports, impact statements, and management plans.
