Job summary

Placements24 seeks a diligent Chemical Engineer with a focus on Environmental Compliance to join the Soweto operations team on-site. The role focuses on developing environmental management systems, monitoring emissions, and driving sustainability initiatives within chemical processes to meet environmental regulations and corporate goals.

You will lead compliance programs, perform emissions monitoring and reporting, and liaise with regulators while advancing sustainability across the plant.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Environmental Engineering.
• 3-5 years of experience in environmental compliance or sustainability within the chemical industry.
• Strong knowledge of environmental regulations, permitting, and reporting requirements.
• Experience with environmental management systems (e.g., ISO 14001).
• Proficiency in environmental monitoring techniques and data analysis.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills for on-site work.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain environmental compliance programs and management systems.
• Monitor and report on environmental performance, including emissions, waste generation, and resource consumption.
• Conduct environmental impact assessments and risk analyses for new and existing processes.
• Ensure compliance with all national and local environmental laws and regulations.
• Identify and implement opportunities for process improvements to reduce environmental impact and enhance sustainability.
• Liaise with regulatory agencies and serve as the primary point of contact for environmental matters.
