Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a vigilant Security Operations Center (SOC) Analyst to join a security team in Soweto. You will monitor alerts, detect threats, and initiate incident response to protect digital assets in Gauteng.

The role offers an entry-level to junior path with a formal training program, mentorship, and opportunities to grow in cybersecurity, working with SIEM, IDS/IPS, and EDR tools within a collaborative team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Cybersecurity, or related field.
• 0–2 years in information security or IT support.
• Fundamental cybersecurity, network, and OS knowledge.
• Familiarity with SIEM/EDR antivirus tools is a plus.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Monitor security alerts and events from SIEM, IDS/IPS, and EDR.
• Analyze incidents to determine scope, impact and root cause.
• Respond to alerts per incident response procedures.
• Escalate critical incidents to senior analysts or management.
• Maintain records of security events and actions taken.
• Contribute to SOC playbooks and procedures.
