Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mining, Civil or Industrial Engineering (Essential).
- Government Certificate of Competency (GCC Mines & Works) will be highly advantageous.
- Registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) as a Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) is advantageous.
- Minimum 10 years' engineering experience with at least 5 years in a senior engineering management role within the mining industry.
- Proven experience managing engineering teams on large-scale mining projects or operations.
- Strong knowledge of mining engineering practices, maintenance strategies, project execution, and asset management.
- Sound understanding of the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA), Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), and other relevant legislation.
- Experience managing engineering budgets, capital projects, contractors, and operational performance.
- Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Lead and manage the engineering function for the Burnstone Project, ensuring safe, reliable and cost-effective engineering operations.
- Develop and implement engineering strategies aligned with project and business objectives.
- Provide leadership and technical guidance to multidisciplinary engineering and maintenance teams.
- Ensure all engineering activities comply with legal, statutory, safety, environmental, and company requirements.
- Manage engineering budgets, forecasts, and capital expenditure to achieve financial objectives.
- Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of engineering projects, ensuring they are completed safely, on time, and within budget.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, equipment reliability, and asset performance.
- Develop and monitor preventative and predictive maintenance strategies to maximise equipment availability.
- Review and approve engineering designs, technical specifications, risk assessments, and project documentation.
- Manage engineering contractors, consultants, and service providers to ensure quality and contractual compliance.
- Identify operational risks and implement effective mitigation strategies.
- Promote a strong safety culture by ensuring compliance with all health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Mentor, coach, and develop engineering personnel to build technical capability and leadership succession.
- Prepare and present engineering performance reports to senior management.
- Collaborate with operations, project, maintenance, and commercial teams to ensure successful project execution and operational excellence.
- Drive innovation and implement engineering best practices to improve productivity and reduce operational costs.
