Job summary

AECOM is seeking a senior structural engineer to contribute on international projects from Gauteng. You will design and analyse concrete and steel structures, support with Revit modelling, and ensure compliance with Eurocodes and US codes. The role emphasizes collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams and delivering safe, compliant designs.

The position requires a B.Eng and 4+ years’ experience, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work under pressure to meet client expectations.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years’ experience in design of concrete and steel structures.
• Solid knowledge and understanding of structural analysis software like Tekla Structural Designer / Etabs / Robot / Idea Statica, etc.
• Revit Structures knowledge will be advantageous.
• Must have experience in the design of reinforced concrete and structural steel buildings.
• Finite element design of concrete structures, specifically flat slab design.
• Some experience in leading small design projects, including resource planning and design time frame estimates.

Responsibilities

• Under the supervision of a Senior Engineer, perform detailed structural designs and calculations for structural systems in commercial and industrial fields for both reinforced concrete and structural steel type structures.
• When required assist with Revit modelling.
• Take responsibility for structural design and drawings.
• Be part of a project team, liaise with other professional team members and contractors.
• Attend planning, design and site meetings, and ad-hoc site inspections.
• Manage less complicated projects
• Work to ensure the implementation of safety and integrity principles in structural documentation.
• Promote compliance with all relevant engineering standards and internal procedures for all design activities.
• Work will mostly be on international projects according to Eurocodes and American codes.

Here is what we are looking for:

• B.Eng. Degree
• M.Eng. Degree preferable
• Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work under pressure and understand the importance of delivery and client satisfaction
• Strong analytical, literacy and numerical skills
• Good commercial awareness / risk management skills
• Good planning and organizational skills
