Job summary

Tych Business Solutions in Middelburg, Mpumalanga, is seeking a highly skilled Metallurgy professional with 6–8 years of relevant experience to lead testing and analytical activities in heavy manufacturing.

You will operate metallurgical microscopes, analyze data, and design testing programmes while collaborating with quality and process teams to drive improvements and ensure compliance with POLC/QCDSM frameworks.

Qualifications

• Requires BSc or BEng in Metallurgy with 6–8 years of experience.

Job Responsibilities

• Operation of metallurgical microscopes, image analysis software, Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint software, and plant software (e.g., P6).
• Designing testing programmes.
• Technical writing, analysis, and interpretation of metallurgical test results related to plant and/or customer processing and operation.
• Utilization of database systems to gather plant data to assist in investigations.
• Computer skills required to analyze data and compile reports.
• Analytical and interpretive skills required to determine causes of process or end-use problems, including project planning.

Minimum Requirements

• BSc or B Eng. in Metallurgy with a minimum of 6 - 8 years’ relevant experience.
• Knowledge of steel/stainless steel products and/or smelting/refining of other materials.
• Working experience in heavy/large manufacturing processes related to steel manufacturing, quality assurance and control, and project management.
• Experience with POLC principles and QCDSM.
