Job summary

GHH Mining Machines in Rustenburg is seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic Engine Specialist to maintain, diagnose and repair engines on underground mining equipment, ensuring reliability and safety.

The role requires a Grade 12, an apprenticeship with a recognized trade, a diesel mechanic trade test, and several years of underground experience, plus a red ticket and Code 08 driver's license.

Qualifications

• Matric/Grade 12 is required.
• Completed Apprenticeship with a recognized Trade.
• Diesel Mechanic Trade Test (Section 13 and/or 26) required.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience as Engine Specialist in underground mining.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience maintaining TMM LHDs, dump trucks, drill rigs and roof bolter equipment underground.
• Valid Certificate of Fitness (Red Ticket) and Code 08 Driver's License.

Job description

To maintain service and repair engines to ensure reliable and efficient operation, contributing to the overall performance and safety of the machines.

Qualifications and Experience

• Matric/Grade 12
• Must have completed an Apprenticeship, and be in possession of a recognized appropriate Trade
• Diesel Mechanic Trade Test (Section 13 and or 26)
• Minimum 3 years’ experience as an Engine Specialist in an underground mechanized mining environment
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in the maintenance of TMM LHDs, Dump Trucks, Drill rigs and Roof bolter equipment in an underground mining environment
• Have a valid Certificate of Fitness (Red Ticket)
• Valid Code 08 Driver's License

General

• Do Planned Maintenance (Services & Improvements) on GHH Mining Machines in a manner that promotes reliability with total cost saving to the Client
• You will be required to focus on all aspects related to the diesel Engine
• Arrange / request all spares required in a pro-active manner
• Might also be required to help with Breakdown Maintenance on Surface on GHH Machines
• Inspect the machines; take the required test measurements record findings on Inspection Report
• Sign-off the Inspection Reports, get approval from Mine Supervisor & hand-in to Charge Hand
• Attend and contribute to all required Safety Talks & Actions
• Follow & adhere to all Mine Rules & Procedures
• Participate in the Management of Change process & implementation
• Identify Training needs of people on Site and communicate with Charge Hand and Contracts Manager
