Swan iT Recruitment is seeking an Energy and Sustainability Engineer to drive energy efficiency and sustainability across the organisation by conducting audits, developing improvement plans, ensuring regulatory compliance, and leveraging innovative technologies within a hospital environment.

You will lead energy audits, support implementation of efficiency initiatives, manage budgets and stakeholders, and contribute to long-term operational savings while ensuring safety and reliability of plant,

Formación

• Essential: NQF 6 Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical).
• Essential: Engineering experience in a hospital environment (maintenance & projects).
• Essential: Energy Auditor or equivalent.
• Desirable: Bachelor's in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical).
• Desirable: Certified Energy Manager.
• Proven track record in environmental sustainability assessments and consumption reduction methods.
• Proven track record with renewable energy plants and systems.
• Proficiency in MS Office; SAP PM would be advantageous.

Responsabilidades

• Provide engineering support to operators on plant, equipment, and systems to enhance sustainability.
• Conduct and evaluate engineering design of plant, equipment, and systems to ensure sustainability.
• Manage sustainability initiatives, including budgeting, execution and re-evaluation.
• Identify and mitigate risk factors related to sustainability projects.
• Identify and implement continuous improvements in efficiency and effectiveness.
• Manage internal and external stakeholder relations and service delivery.
• Manage resource allocation and utilisation.
• Support the Industrial Control Manager with all SCADA-related requirements.
• Provide engineering support across maintenance and projects within a hospital environment.
• Conduct energy audits and support the implementation of energy efficiency and consumption reduction initiatives.
• Support the planning, implementation and management of sustainability projects from conception to completion, ensuring delivery within allocated timeframes and budgetary constraints.
• Contribute to financial planning and budgeting related to sustainability initiatives.
• Support systems implementation and the effective application of risk management and control.

Introduction

We are seeking an Energy and Sustainability Engineer to drive energy efficiency and sustainability across the organisation by conducting audits, developing and monitoring improvement plans, ensuring regulatory compliance, and leveraging innovative technologies. The role evaluates project feasibility, engages stakeholders, and provides reporting, training, and guidance to achieve reduced environmental impact and long-term operational savings.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide engineering support to operators on plant, equipment, and systems to enhance sustainability.
• Conduct and evaluate engineering design of plant, equipment, and systems to ensure sustainability.
• Support sustainability initiatives, including investigation, motivation, budgeting, execution and re-evaluation.
• Identify, assess risks and develop strategies to mitigate risk factors.
• Identify and implement continuous improvements in efficiency and effectiveness.
• Manage internal and external stakeholder relations and service delivery.
• Manage resource allocation and utilisation.

Desired Experience & Qualification

• NQF 6, National Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical) – essential.
• Bachelor’s in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical) – desirable.
• Engineering experience in a hospital environment, specifically maintenance and projects – essential.
• Energy Auditor or equivalent – essential.
• Engineering design and project management experience – desirable.
• Certified Energy Manager – desirable.
• Engineering proficiency in areas of responsibility.
• Proven track record in environmental sustainability assessments and consumption reduction methods.
• Proven track record of renewable energy plants and systems.
• Computer literacy in MS Office; SAP PM would be advantageous.
• Strong knowledge and application of risk management and control.
• Proficiency in designing, planning, organising, and managing sustainability projects from conception to completion.
• Experience in financial planning/budgeting.
• Experience with systems implementation.
