Placements24 is seeking an experienced Energy Storage Project Manager based in Bloemfontein to oversee battery storage projects across the region. You will manage all lifecycle stages, from planning and stakeholder engagement through to commissioning and handover, ensuring on-time delivery and budget adherence.

The ideal candidate has a strong BESS background, solid project management experience, and a proven ability to lead cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in project management with focus on energy storage or renewable projects.
• PMP or equivalent certification is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end delivery of energy storage projects, including scope, schedule, budget, and quality.
• Develop detailed project plans, define milestones, and allocate resources.
• Coordinate with internal teams (engineering, procurement, construction) and external stakeholders (utilities, suppliers, customers).
• Oversee site selection, feasibility studies, and permitting processes.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations, environmental standards, and contractual obligations.
• Monitor progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
• Manage vendor relationships and contract negotiations.
• Prepare and present project status reports to senior management and clients.
• Lead project close-out activities, including commissioning, testing, and handover.
• Facilitate effective communication and collaboration among all project participants.

• Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and external vendors.
• PMP or equivalent project management certification is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with grid interconnection processes and regulatory frameworks.
• Must be able to work a hybrid schedule in Bloemfontein, Free State .
