Job summary

Sun International in Cape Town seeks an Employee Relations Specialist to manage the end-to-end ER case lifecycle, ensuring fair, legally compliant outcomes. You will conduct workplace investigations, manage disciplinary and grievance processes, prepare cases and represent the organisation in external dispute resolution forums.

You will provide specialist ER guidance to managers and stakeholders, drive risk-based compliance with LRA and BCEA, and support continuous improvement in processes,

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field is required.
  • Advanced Diploma/Degree in Labour Law is preferred.
  • 5-8 years of relevant Employee Relations or Labour Relations experience.
  • Experience managing disciplinary and grievance processes.
  • Experience conducting workplace investigations and ER cases.
  • Experience with dispute resolution and CCMA matters.
  • Strong knowledge of SA employment legislation (LRA, BCEA).
  • Ability to prepare formal ER documentation and evidence.
  • Advising managers and stakeholders on ER processes.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct workplace investigations and manage disciplinary/grievance processes.
  • Prepare cases and represent the organisation in external dispute forums.

Job description

The Employee Relations Specialist manages the end-to-end employee relations case lifecycle, ensuring fair, consistent and legally compliant outcomes. The role conducts workplace investigations, manages disciplinary and grievance processes, prepares cases and represents the organisation in external dispute resolution forums, while providing specialist ER guidance to managers and PBE stakeholders.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field (required).
  • Advanced Diploma / Degree in Labour Law (preferred).
Experience:
  • 5-8 years’ relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in Employee Relations and/or Labour Relations.
  • Experience managing disciplinary and grievance processes.
  • Experience conducting workplace investigations and managing ER cases.
  • Practical experience in dispute resolution and CCMA matters.
  • Strong working knowledge of South African employment legislation, particularly the LRA and BCEA.
  • Experience preparing formal ER documentation, case packs and supporting evidence.
  • Experience advising managers and stakeholders on employee relations processes and requirements.
