Job summary

The Apex Group is hiring a Trainee Fund Accountant in Cape Town to prepare timely portfolio valuations and maintain accounting records for multiple funds. You will liaise with fund managers, brokers and custodians to resolve issues and support audit processes.

The role requires a commerce degree or diploma and strong Excel skills, along with excellent communication and attention to detail. Training and development opportunities accompany a competitive remuneration package.

• Degree or diploma in Commerce (including Financial Accounting II or equivalent). At least 6 months -1 year of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepare daily, weekly and/or monthly portfolio valuations.
• Maintain the underlying accounting records for assigned funds.
• Liaise with fund managers, brokers, and custodians to resolve issues in a timely manner.
• Reconcile brokerage and custodian accounts to underlying records.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships while delivering high-quality service.
• Assist external auditors and support the audit process.
• Support senior team members with audit queries.
• Conduct periodic reviews and identify errors or inconsistencies.
