Job summary

Midvaal Local Municipality is seeking a Close Protection Officer to provide VIP protection services for the Executive Mayor, Speaker, and other dignitaries as required. The role includes vehicle duties, contingency planning, venue protection, and after-hours coverage.

Requirements include a Grade 12 or equivalent, Close Protection Officer qualification, firearm competency, and a valid driver’s licence. A current Advanced driving certificate is advantageous, with strong communication and

Qualifications

Garde 12 and Close Protection Officer qualification.
MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint literacy.
Valid driver’s licence.
Advanced driving certificate is an advantage.
Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, adaptability, assertiveness, leadership, conflict and stress management, negotiation skills, problem solving skills, office management.

Responsibilities

Provide professional close VIP protection (in-transit and/or static security) to the Council’s Executive Mayor and dignitaries.
Drive principal to/from identified areas within the law and policy.
Render venue protection at visited locations per operational plans.
Plan advance contingency security for venues and routes used by dignitaries.
Maintain vehicles with pre/post inspections and registers.
Perform duties outside normal hours and weekends.
Conduct general admin tasks when not on protection duties.
