Job summary

Fusion Personnel is seeking an experienced maintenance engineer in Pretoria to install, service and repair mechanical, electrical, electronic and automated equipment. The role requires immediate availability and a strong background in fault-finding, instrumentation and PLC-based control systems.

You will diagnose faults, perform preventative maintenance, calibrate instruments, and support PLC changes while maintaining accurate records.

Qualifications

• Immediate availability
• Relevant tertiary qualification in Mechatronics or Electrical/Electronic Engineering
• 35 years experience in an industrial, manufacturing, engineering, process or automated production environment
• Experience with mechanical/electrical fault-finding and maintenance
• Working knowledge of PLCs, instrumentation and industrial control systems
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams and equipment manuals

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, electronic and automated equipment
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance
• Diagnose faults and identify root causes of recurring equipment failures
• Install, configure, test and troubleshoot equipment and systems
• Assist with PLC programming changes and control system configuration
• Assist with installation, testing and commissioning of new or modified equipment
• Calibrate and test instrumentation and control devices
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, job cards and fault histories
• Identify critical spares and assist in reducing equipment downtime
• Provide technical support to engineering and production teams
• Recommend improvements to equipment reliability, productivity, quality and safety
• Participate in automation, continuous improvement, energy efficiency and equipment upgrade projects
• Ensure compliance with health and safety requirements
