Job summary

Fullserve Services (Pty) Ltd is seeking an Electrician to perform fault finding, installation, maintenance and repair of electrical systems across multiple sites. The role requires adherence to SANS standards, ISO 45001, and HIW safety practices.

The position involves supervising apprentices and contractors, reading electrical diagrams, and ensuring safe handling of tools and materials. Weekend work and long hours may be required. PPE must be worn at all times on site.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or Electrical Engineering N3/NQF4 (minimum) OR N6/NQF5 (preferred).
• 2 Years' Experience in electrical works.
• Valid Driver's License Code 10 (C1) or Code 14 (EC) with PrDP.
• Valid Police Clearance Certificate.
• Basic knowledge of electrical equipment.
• Knowledge of Electrical SANS standards and specifications.
• Ability to read, interpret and apply Electrical drawings and designs.
• Ability to drive and operate a Crane Truck.
• Ability to drive and operate a Cherry Picker.
• Physically fit and able to work long hours, including weekends.

Job description

The Electrician is responsible for the safe, efficient, and compliant fault finding, rectification, installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and equipment to ensure reliable operations across all sites and facilities. The role includes ensuring quality workmanship, environmental compliance, and adherence to occupational health and safety requirements in line with ISO standards. Duties are not exhaustive and may include other reasonable tasks as required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

• Perform and supervise the removal, installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical systems (domestic, commercial, or industrial).
• Ensure all wiring and components are installed in accordance with the relevant SANS standards.
• Oversee apprentices, interns, leaners and contractors performing installation work.
• Conduct inspections and testing of completed electrical installations.
• Verify that circuits, equipment, and protective devices are working safely and correctly.
• Use instruments (e.g., insulation resistance testers, loop testers, earth resistance testers) to check compliance.
• Read and interpret electrical diagrams and blueprints.
• Diagnose and repair electrical faults in wiring, controls, switchgear, distribution boards, transformers, and related systems.
• Rectify non-compliance issues found during inspections.
• Carry out routine maintenance, cleaning and servicing of tools and equipment.
• Record and request all material, tools and equipment required for the work.
• Ensure all materials removed from site are returned to the office yard or premises.
• Ensure all used materials removed from site, stored in the office yard or premises are returned to the client's premises or depot.
• Report tools and equipment that requires external repairs.
• Ensure safe handling and storage of material, tools and equipment.
• Maintain a tool and equipment register and ensure they are in good working condition.
• Vehicle Handling, Inspection and Transportation
• Safety and Compliance
• Perform basic vehicle inspection (tyres, oil, lights etc.) and complete vehicle inspection sheet daily.
• Safely load, secure and offload material, tools and equipment on the vehicle.
• Drive company vehicles (trucks and bakkies) to safely transport material, tools, equipment and team members to sites.
• Comply with all traffic regulations.
• Ensure that team members clean the company vehicles regularly and keep them well-maintained.
• Ensure that the vehicle is parked properly without being an obstruction on the parking area or road.
• Report vehicle faults and accident promptly.
• Follow all Occupational Health and Safety (OHS Act) and ISO 45001 requirements.
• Ensure all electrical work is carried out safely, protecting both workers and the public.
• Always wear full PPE (safety shoes, overalls, reflector vest, hard-hat, respirator, dust mask, gloves, goggles, ear protection etc.) as per the site requirements.
• Ensure team members always wear full PPE as per the site requirements.
• Implement and maintain traffic management measures on live roads (cones, flagmen, signage).
• Participate in toolbox talks, safety drills, and incident reporting.
• Conduct and develop risk assessment together with the team.
• Ensure the workshop, office yard and worksite are kept neat, organised, and compliant with health and safety standards.

• Collaborate with managers, supervisors, team leaders, and fellow team members to meet project timelines.
• Train and guide assistants, general workers, apprentices, interns, leaners and contractors.
• Conduct site assessments and provide the reports as required.
• Provide regular updates on work progress, challenges, and safety observations.
• Compile and complete daily job cards for all tasks undertaken.
• Capture and attach before, during, and after photographs using a GPS-enabled camera.

REQUIREMENTS

• Grade 12 or Electrical Engineering N3 or NQF Level 4 (minimum) OR Electrical Engineering N6 or NQF Level 5 (preferred).
• 2 Years' Experience in electrical works.
• Valid Driver's License Code 10 (C1) or Code 14 (EC) with PrDP (Professional Driving Permit).
• Valid Police Clearance Certificate.
• Basic knowledge of electrical equipment.
