Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an Electrical Maintenance Technician for a prominent industrial manufacturing firm in Gauteng. The role combines on-site maintenance with occasional remote planning and documentation tasks to support uptime and efficiency.

You will diagnose, repair and maintain electrical machinery, control systems and power distribution, while adhering to strict safety standards in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Diploma/Trade qualification in electrical engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 4 years in industrial electrical maintenance.
• Experience with AC/DC motors, VSDs, and control systems.
• Experience with PLC programming and troubleshooting (Siemens, Allen-Bradley).
• Ability to read complex electrical diagrams and schematics.
• Strong knowledge of safety procedures incl. LOTO.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on motors, generators, transformers and control panels.
• Diagnose and repair electrical faults and breakdowns in plant systems.
• Install, test and commission new electrical equipment and systems.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints and manuals.
• Troubleshoot PLCs and HMIs.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations.
• Maintain records of maintenance activities and parts inventory.
• Collaborate with production teams to minimize disruption during maintenance.
• Respond to emergency calls for electrical system failures.
• Assist in upgrades and modifications of electrical systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on all electrical equipment, including motors, generators, transformers, and control panels.

Requirements

• National Diploma in Electrical Engineering or equivalent trade qualification (e.g., Electrician Trade Test).


• Minimum of 4 years of experience in industrial electrical maintenance.


• Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing AC/DC motors, variable speed drives, and control systems.


• Experience with PLC programming and troubleshooting (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley).


• Ability to read and understand complex electrical diagrams and schematics.


• Strong knowledge of safety procedures and regulations, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO).


• Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic skills.


• Good communication and interpersonal skills.


• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.


• Willingness to work shifts and be on call as required.
