Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a detail-oriented Electrical Engineering Technician to join the Power Systems division in Bloemfontein, Free State. You will contribute to design, implementation, testing, and maintenance of electrical power infrastructure across grid upgrades and renewable energy projects.

The role requires a National Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems preferred) and a minimum of 3 years' relevant experience.

Qualifications

• Diploma/degree in Electrical Engineering with Power Systems focus.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in electrical power systems, maintenance or installation.
• Ability to read electrical drawings and P&IDs.
• Familiarity with low/medium voltage systems and testing equipment.

Responsibilities

• Assist design and development of electrical power systems, including schematics and layouts.
• Install, commission, and test transformers, switchgear, generators, and protection relays.
• Perform routine maintenance and diagnostic checks on power system components.
• Troubleshoot faults and implement corrective actions to restore functionality.
• Conduct site surveys and gather data for system design and upgrades.
• Ensure compliance with electrical codes and safety standards.
• Prepare technical reports and test results.
• Collaborate with project managers and engineers to meet timelines.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and teamwork abilities.
• Knowledge of safety procedures for working with electrical power systems.
• Proficiency in relevant software (e.g., AutoCAD, PSS/E) is an advantage.
