Job summary

Curro Aurora in Randburg seeks a Temp Economics Teacher (FET Phase) for a part-time contract to commence duties in March 2027. The role involves teaching and coordinating FET subjects in line with the Curro curriculum.

The ideal candidate holds a BEd and/or PGCE in FET education, with an honours in education advantageous, and has at least 3 years’ experience with knowledge of the IEB curriculum. Willingness to work extended hours and weekends is required.

Qualifications

• BEd degree and/or PGCE in FET phase education, with an honours degree in education (in the relevant subject/s) advantageous
• Minimum 3 years’ experience as an FET phase teacher
• Knowledge of the IEB curriculum
• Proven facilitation, problem-solving and report-writing skills
• Excellent communication, organisational and planning skills
• Willing and able to work extended hours and weekends

Responsibilities

• Teaching and coordinating a range of subjects as per the Curro curriculum for the FET phase
• Plan lessons, prepare workbooks and assess academic progress
• Develop term plans, differentiate learning materials for barriers to learning
• Create baseline assessments and advise subject choices/remedial work
• Manage the classroom, assessments, and communication with learners and parents
• Organize extramural activities and provide tutoring support
