Job summary

Tangent International seeks an experienced Microwave Technical Engineer for a 3-month extendable contract in Johannesburg, South Africa. You will own end-to-end microwave transmission deployments, including IDU/ODU alignment, commissioning, and BO/NOC maintenance, with a focus on high-capacity backhaul and 80 GHz E-band links.

The role requires 3–5 years of transmission engineering experience, a relevant engineering degree, and immediate availability for deployment in South Africa.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Telecommunications, Electrical, Electronics or related field.
• 3–5 years in telecommunications transmission and microwave network engineering.
• Hands-on experience in microwave deployment, commissioning, integration, acceptance, and BO/NOC maintenance.
• Solid knowledge of PDH/SDH, Ethernet over Microwave, and RF propagation.
• Based in South Africa for immediate deployment on a 3-month extendable contract.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end deployment, commissioning, integration, and acceptance testing of microwave links.
• Perform path alignment, and configure indoor and outdoor microwave radios (IDU/ODU).
• Provide BO/NOC maintenance support for microwave networks.
• Deploy and configure E-band 80 GHz wireless solutions for high-capacity backhaul.
• Troubleshoot transmission alarms, RF interference, and link degradation.
• Coordinate with field teams, planners, and project managers in Johannesburg.
• Validate link performance against design budgets and BER criteria.
• Maintain As-Built docs and commissioning test reports.
