Job summary

Publicis Groupe Africa is seeking a Multimedia Designer Intern in Durban for a 12-month internship starting March 2027. You will work across a busy studio delivering on integrated concepts and designs to meet client briefs.

The role involves crafting social media content, designing across channels, and collaborating with teams to transform ideas into human-centered experiences. Knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud and a strong portfolio are essential.

Qualifications

• Currently completing or recently completed a Diploma, Degree or Higher Certificate in Multimedia Design, Graphic Design, Digital Design, Visual Communication, Animation, Motion Design or a related creative field.
• Foundational working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud, particularly:
• Adobe Photoshop
• Adobe Illustrator
• Adobe After Effects
• Adobe Premiere Pro
• Basic understanding of graphic design, animation, motion graphics, video editing and digital/social media content.
• A portfolio or student body of work demonstrating creative thinking and design ability.
• An understanding of design principles, typography, composition, colour and visual storytelling.
• An interest in social media, digital trends, emerging technologies and South African popular culture.
• Exposure to 3D animation or production would be advantageous but is not essential.
• No previous agency experience required.

Responsibilities

• Design social media and digitally led creative, utilizing animation and digital design best practices with a good technical understanding for outputting files in the correct format, size (data and dimensions) with visual accuracy.
• Be able to work methodically and according to brief and brand specification.
• Be able break down brief requirements and timeously flag any potential issues that may arise.
• Create presentation decks to showcase work.
• Be able to collect and file artwork work correctly for archiving and handovers.
• Be able to accurately capture time against completed briefs.
• Define or apply the aesthetic of overall campaigns
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Design across multiple channels
• Consistently produce creative elements against a deliverables list
• Participate in brainstorms & conceptualisation
• Lead the craft & design of your idea
