Placements24 is seeking an experienced Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) Driver for long-haul routes based in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal. The role requires a valid Code 14 license and PDP, with a strong background in long-distance transport and safety compliance.

You will be responsible for loading/unloading, vehicle inspections, and maintaining logs, while delivering goods across provinces. The position offers a stable full-time role with a safety-focused, professional team and opportunities for career

Qualifications

• Valid Code 14 driver's license with an excellent driving record.
• Professional Driver's Permit (PDP) mandatory.
• Minimum of 5 years proven HGV long-haul experience.
• Demonstrated knowledge of South Africa road networks.
• Must pass a medical and driving assessment.
• Strong understanding of vehicle mechanics and maintenance.
• Excellent stamina for long hours including overnight stays.
• Reliable, punctual, and responsible work ethic.
• Good communication with dispatch and customers.
• Physically fit for loading/unloading.

Responsibilities

• Operate Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs) safely and efficiently for long-distance transport.
• Transport goods to designated destinations in a timely manner.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure roadworthiness.
• Perform basic vehicle maintenance and report any mechanical issues promptly.
• Adhere to traffic laws, road safety regulations, and company policies.
• Ensure proper loading and unloading of cargo, securing it appropriately.
• Maintain accurate logs of working hours, mileage, and delivery details.
• Provide excellent customer service during delivery and collection.
• Manage delivery schedules and communicate delays to dispatch.
• Uphold the company's reputation for reliability and professionalism.
