Job summary

Placements24 is recruiting a Junior Software Developer in Durban to join a dynamic fintech-inspired engineering team. Recent CS graduates or developers with 1-2 years’ experience will contribute to design, development, testing and deployment using Java, Python or C#.

You will work in an agile environment, collaborate with senior engineers and product managers, and grow through code reviews, unit tests and exposure to modern frameworks such as Spring, Django, React.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Solid understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP) principles.
• Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (e.g., Java, Python, C#, JavaScript).
• Familiarity with web development frameworks (e.g., Spring, Django, React, Angular) is a plus.
• Basic knowledge of database systems (e.g., SQL, NoSQL).
• Understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and agile methodologies.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and teamwork abilities.
• Eagerness to learn and take on new challenges.
• A portfolio of personal projects or contributions to open-source projects is highly valued.

Responsibilities

• Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code in languages such as Java, Python, or C#.

• Develop and implement new software features and functionalities.
