Job summary

Curro Heritage House in Durban seeks an experienced Intermediate Phase Head to oversee teaching, administration and curriculum delivery for the intermediate phase. You will lead teachers, coordinate IEB-aligned plans, and drive continuous improvement in learning outcomes.

The role requires strong leadership, planning, and communication skills, with readiness to engage in school activities, events and extramural programs in a busy urban campus.

Qualifications

• BEd and/or PGCE in intermediate phase education.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience as an intermediate phase head.
• Knowledge of the IEB curriculum.
• Proven management and leadership skills.
• Ability to lead and mentor other teachers.
• Excellent communication, organisational and planning skills.
• Willing and able to work overtime and weekends and to be involved in school activities.

Responsibilities

• Teach and manage phase administration and planning, including timetables and assessments.
• Coordinate curriculum rollout and moderation for the intermediate phase.
• Mentor and supervise phase heads and teachers; participate in interviews and appraisals.
• Oversee interventions and disciplinary processes per Curro policies.
• Plan and manage events, extramural activities and classroom environments.
• Coordinate assessments, homework, moderation and supervision.
