Placements24 is seeking a dedicated Research Assistant to support a Genetics Laboratory in Durban. You will perform hands-on experimental work and manage data under the guidance of Principal Investigators and postdoctoral Fellows.

This role offers exposure to genetic variation research, routine DNA procedures, meticulous record-keeping, and opportunities for professional development within a reputable research institution in KwaZulu-Natal.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Genetics, Biology, Biotechnology, or related life science.
• Hands-on laboratory techniques experience.
• Knowledge of laboratory safety guidelines and procedures.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to follow protocols accurately and efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine laboratory procedures, including DNA extraction, PCR, and gel electrophoresis.
• Prepare reagents, solutions, and media required for experiments.
• Maintain accurate and organized records of experiments, results, and inventory.
• Assist in data collection, entry, and preliminary analysis.
• Ensure compliance with laboratory safety protocols and maintain a clean and orderly workspace.
• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, troubleshooting minor issues as they arise.
