Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Commercial Underwriter for our Durban operations. You will assess and underwrite commercial insurance applications, quote pricing for new and renewal business, and ensure profitability while complying with guidelines and regulatory requirements.

You will collaborate with brokers, claims and actuarial teams to analyze risk trends and product performance, and build strong client relationships to drive growth.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in commercial insurance underwriting.
• Strong understanding of Property, Liability, and Business Interruption risks.
• Demonstrated ability in risk assessment, financial analysis, and pricing methodologies.
• Excellent negotiation and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and evaluate commercial insurance applications, assessing risks and deciding underwriting acceptability.
• Develop and quote pricing for new and renewal business, ensuring competitive rates and profitability.
• Adhere to underwriting guidelines, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with agents, brokers, and clients to facilitate growth.
• Collaborate with claims and actuarial teams to provide insights on risk trends and product performance.
