Sasso Consulting in Johannesburg, Gauteng, seeks an experienced Draughtsperson to join its team. This technical drafting role converts engineering input and site measurements into accurate 3D models and detailed 2D drawings for fabrication within the industrial refrigeration sector.

Responsibilities include piping layouts, isometrics, spools, structural and plate work drawings, P&IDs and as-built updates. You will work with process engineers, review designs, and ensure compliance with ISO

Competenze

• Proven draughting experience in the industrial refrigeration sector.
• 4+ years' draughtsperson experience in engineering or construction.

Draughtsperson – Industrial Refrigeration

Location: Johannesburg, Gauteng

Salary: R25,000 – R35,000 per month, depending on experience

About The Role

An established engineering company is seeking an experienced Draughtsperson to join its Johannesburg-based team.

This is a technical draughting position requiring hands-on experience within the industrial refrigeration sector. The successful candidate will convert engineering input, site measurements and 3D laser-scan data into accurate 3D models and detailed 2D drawings for fabrication and installation.

The role covers piping layouts, isometrics and spools, structural steel drawings, plate work and sheet metal developments, insulation and cladding layouts, P&IDs and as-built drawings of existing plant. 3U-HR-JD-3+Job+Description+Role

Candidates without industrial refrigeration draughting experience will not be considered.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce detailed 2D and 3D engineering drawings based on engineering specifications.
• Prepare accurate piping layouts, isometrics and spool drawings.
• Produce structural steel general arrangements, shop details and erection drawings.
• Prepare plate work, sheet metal, insulation and cladding layouts.
• Develop and update as-built drawings of existing plant.
• Interpret and create P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams).
• Work closely with process engineers to accurately represent piping, instrumentation and control systems. 3U-HR-JD-3+Job+Description+Role
• Conduct on-site measurements and 3D laser scanning when required.
• Use GPS surveying equipment to capture and document relevant geographical information.
• Confirm and label equipment on site to ensure drawings accurately reflect physical installations.
• Liaise with engineers, project managers and other stakeholders to clarify design requirements and resolve discrepancies.
• Participate in design reviews and provide technical support to manufacturing and installation teams.
• Incorporate design changes and revisions based on engineering and project feedback.
• Ensure drawings comply with company standards, client requirements and accepted engineering practices.
• Perform quality checks before drawings are submitted for approval.
• Maintain drawing revisions, version control and design documentation.
• Support project risk assessments and identify potential design, quality and safety concerns.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, efficiency and cost effectiveness.
• Ensure relevant design documentation complies with applicable ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 requirements. 3U-HR-JD-3+Job+Description+Role

Essential Experience

Applicants must have:

• Proven working experience in draughting within the industrial refrigeration sector.
• Minimum 4+ years' experience as a Draughtsperson/Draughtsman within an engineering or construction environment. 3U-HR-JD-3+Job+Description+Role
• Strong experience producing detailed technical and engineering drawings.
• Experience with piping, plant layouts and related industrial engineering drawings.
• Experience interpreting and producing P&IDs.
• Sound understanding of engineering, construction and manufacturing principles.

Essential Software Experience

• Revit

Qualifications

• Diploma in Mechanical, Civil or Structural Engineering; or
• Equivalent recognised qualification in draughting.
• AutoCAD or relevant CAD certification is advantageous/relevant to the role. 3U-HR-JD-3+Job+Description+Role

• Strong technical drawing and design ability.
• Excellent attention to detail and dimensional accuracy.
• Sound knowledge of engineering and construction principles.
