Job summary

Afrique Connection Consultancy is seeking an experienced Draughting Office Supervisor to lead its drawing office in Middelburg. You will head the draughting team, plan project priorities and ensure industrial plant drawings meet client requirements.

The role requires 15–20 years of draughting in concrete and steel structures, with experience on oil & gas, chemical, mining and power projects. Revit proficiency is essential, and a technical diploma is advantageous.

About The Role

Our client, a well-established civil and structural consulting engineering firm, is looking for an experienced Draughting Office Supervisor to run its drawing office. You'll lead the draughting team, plan and prioritise draughting work across projects, and make sure drawings for industrial plant projects (oil & gas, chemical, mining and power generation) meet quality standards and client requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Take responsibility for all draughting personnel, project priority planning, draughting IT resources and the day-to-day running of the drawing office.
• Provide guidance, support and internal training to the draughting team.
• Organise, plan and maintain documentation of drawings, submittals and schedules.
• Support engineering and design teams by managing drawing distribution and checking finished drawings for accuracy and completeness.
• Work with engineers to convert designs into detailed drawings and layouts, calculating dimensions and material requirements using CAD software.
• Produce 3D models and construction drawings, including detecting and reporting clashes and constructability issues.
• Plan, organise and run draughting activities efficiently, eliminating unnecessary rework.
• Ensure project drawings meet quality standards and client requirements.
• Develop and implement draughting policies, procedures and workflows, and bring in industry trends.

Minimum Requirements

• 15–20 years’ experience in engineering design draughting of concrete and steel structures.
• Draughting experience on industrial plants (oil & gas, chemical, mining and power generation).
• Proven track record of managing a draughting team.
• Proficiency in Autodesk Revit (minimum).
• Draughting or technical diploma (advantage).
• Valid driver’s licence.
• South African citizens only.
