Job summary

Curro seeks to appoint a Drama Teacher (Grades 4 to 9) for Curro Heritage House in Durban, to commence duties in January 2027. The position requires a BEd and/or PGCE in senior phase education, with an honours degree advantageous, and a minimum of 2 years’ experience.

Qualifications

• BEd degree and/or PGCE in senior phase education, with an honours degree in education (in the relevant subject/s) advantageous
• Minimum 2 years’ experience as a senior phase teacher
• Knowledge of the IEB curriculum
• Proven facilitation, problem-solving and report-writing skills
• Excellent communication, organisational and planning skills
• Willing and able to work extended hours and weekends

Responsibilities

• Teach and coordinate subjects as per Curro and IEB curricula for the senior phase.
• Plan term plans, differentiate learning materials, and monitor student progress.
• Manage the classroom, assessment rosters, and communication with learners and parents.
• Set up and manage assessments (formal and continuous) and homework, including moderation and revision.
• Plan and manage extramural activities and outings.

Curro is seeking to appoint a high school senior phase teacher at Curro Heritage House in Durban. The role involves teaching and coordinating a range of subjects as per the Curro and IEB curricula for the senior phase. The teacher is responsible for the active teaching, knowledge transfer, skills development and growth of positive attitudes among learners through integrated and focused teaching approaches.

Key performance areas

• Perform teaching duties, including planning lessons using modern-day tools and processes, setting up workbooks and measuring academic improvement and achievement
• Set up, implement, monitor and adjust the term plan as necessary, considering exams, assessments and school activities as well as the need for differentiated learning materials to accommodate barriers to learning
• Plan and manage the classroom, including the assessment roster, classroom design and set-up for optimal performance, disciplinary rules and communication with learners and parents
