About the Role

Our client, a leading national retailer, is seeking an experienced and motivated Distribution Center Team Lead to oversee operations at their Upington, Northern Cape facility. This role is responsible for guiding and supporting a team of warehouse associates in the efficient execution of daily tasks, including receiving, stocking, order picking, and dispatch. The Team Lead will play a crucial part in ensuring productivity, accuracy, and adherence to safety standards within the distribution center. The ideal candidate will have proven leadership experience, a strong understanding of warehouse operations, and a commitment to fostering a positive and productive work environment. Key Responsibilities

• Lead, train, and motivate a team of warehouse associates to achieve daily operational goals.
• Oversee and ensure the accuracy and efficiency of receiving, put-away, picking, packing, and shipping processes.
• Monitor team performance, provide regular feedback, and conduct performance reviews.
• Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and security policies and procedures.
• Assist in managing inventory accuracy through cycle counts and other control measures.
• Troubleshoot operational issues and implement solutions to maintain workflow.
• Communicate effectively with warehouse management and other departments.
• Promote a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement within the team.
• Ensure proper utilization and care of warehouse equipment.
• Contribute to maintaining a clean and organized work environment in Upington, Northern Cape.

Requirements

• Previous experience in a warehouse or distribution center, with at least 1-2 years in a leadership or supervisory capacity.
• Proven ability to lead and motivate a team.
• Solid understanding of warehouse operations and procedures.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations in a warehouse environment.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
• Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) is a plus.
• Physical capability to perform warehouse tasks, including lifting up to 20kg.
• Must be based in or willing to work from our Upington, Northern Cape facility.
