About the Role

Our client, a prestigious sports academy situated in Klerksdorp, North West , is searching for an accomplished and visionary Director of Sports Performance . This senior leadership role is responsible for overseeing and implementing cutting-edge performance enhancement programs for a diverse range of athletes. The Director will lead a team of specialists, including strength and conditioning coaches, sports scientists, and nutritionists, to optimize athlete potential and prevent injuries. This position requires a blend of scientific expertise, practical application, and strong leadership skills to drive a culture of excellence and continuous improvement within the academy. The role involves both on-site leadership and strategic remote collaboration, making it ideal for a candidate who thrives in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive sports performance strategies across all athletic programs.
• Lead, mentor, and manage a multidisciplinary team of performance specialists.
• Oversee athlete assessment, testing, and monitoring protocols to track progress and identify areas for development.
• Design and implement individualized and team-based strength and conditioning programs.
• Collaborate with medical staff to ensure integrated athlete care and injury prevention/rehabilitation.
• Manage the sports performance budget and ensure efficient resource allocation.
• Stay current with the latest research and advancements in sports science and performance enhancement.
• Foster a high-performance culture within the academy, emphasizing discipline, dedication, and athlete well-being.
• Oversee the selection and implementation of performance technology and equipment.
• Communicate performance insights and strategies effectively to athletes, coaches, and stakeholders.

Requirements

• A Master's degree or PhD in Sports Science, Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, or a closely related field.
• A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in sports performance, with at least 4 years in a leadership or management role.
• Certification from a recognized professional body (e.g., CSCS, ASCA) is highly desirable.
