Placements24 is recruiting a diligent Buyer for direct materials in Bloemfontein. You will source, evaluate and negotiate with suppliers to ensure timely deliveries and cost efficiency, supporting production objectives.

The role requires 2–4 years of buying experience, a relevant degree, and strong ERP/procurement software skills to manage records and supplier performance effectively.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field.
• 2-4 years of experience as a Buyer focusing on direct materials procurement.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and materials management.
• Proficiency in ERP systems and procurement software.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Source and procure direct materials, ensuring quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery.
• Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules with suppliers of raw materials and components.
• Manage supplier performance, conduct regular reviews, and address any issues that arise.
• Collaborate with production and planning teams to forecast material requirements and manage inventory levels.
• Maintain accurate records of purchases, contracts, and supplier communications.
• Identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvements within the direct materials supply chain.
