Job summary

Takealot Group in Cape Town seeks a Digital Graphic Designer to join the Retail Media team. You will craft digital design executions for CRM, banners, video, and in-app experiences, ensuring on-brand delivery and timely outputs.

The ideal candidate holds a Diploma or Bachelor's in Graphic Design, 3–5 years' experience, strong Photoshop/Illustrator, knowledge of HTML5, and familiarity with CMS tools like Braze or MailChimp. Motion graphics and AI prompting knowledge are a plus.

• Excellent self-management and communication skills.
• Motion effects/After Effects or any animation/video program knowledge advantageous.

• Strong Photoshop & Illustrator skills.
• Good understanding of digital and mobile design principles.

Responsibilities

takealot.com, South Africa's leading online retailer, is looking for a highly talented Digital Graphic Designer to join our Retail Media team in Cape Town.

Key responsibilities:

• Supporting the Retail Media team with digital design executions for all retail media solutions including CRM (mailers, animated graphics for in-app and pop-up banners, display banners, video, and more.
• Keeping abreast of advancements in new technologies and techniques, contemporary trends in design to deliver cutting-edge work.
• Brainstorming and conceptualizing ideas as well as storyboarding.
• Participating in idea sessions to share new design perspectives and ideas.
• Adding effects/elements to enhance motion graphics.
• Creation of Retail Media Go-to-market materials (Pitchdecks, Flyers, Social posts etc)
• Working collaboratively with the design team, Retail Media team, broader Marketing team & on occasion Retail and Promotions departments.
• Consistently delivering work on time.
• Working within the brand CI and templates.
• Working quickly and efficiently with exceptional attention to detail.
• Implementing and delivering on feedback from senior management and peers.
• Improving design & retail media collaboration through process documentation and prioritization.

Minimum Required Qualification, Experience, Competencies:

• Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Graphic Design.
• 3 - 5 years’ experience in Graphic Design.
• Excellent self-management and communication skills.
• Motion effects/ After Effects or any other animation/video and motion program knowledge advantageous.
• Understanding of HTML 5 skills.
• Experience building, editing, and managing modular templates within CMS systems (eg Braze, Salesforce, MailChimp and Stripo etc).
• Great Adobe Photoshop & Illustrator skills.
• Good understanding of digital and mobile design principles.
• An understanding of typography, colour, composition and how these elements work together for a design solution.
• Understand the importance of brand design.

Skills, knowledge & abilities:

• Excellent self-management and communication skills.
• Motion effects/ After Effects or any other animation/video program knowledge advantageous.
• Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite, notably Photoshop, Illustrator.
• Basic knowledge of HTML 5.
• Good understanding of digital and mobile design principles.

• Understand the importance of brand design.
• An understanding of generative AI prompting, model capabilities and how these elements work together for innovative and efficient creative outcomes is advantageous
