Job summary

Valterra Platinum Limited is seeking a diesel mechanic for the Amandelbult complex, reporting to the Mechanical Foreman UG. The role focuses on maintaining, installing and commissioning machinery to set standards while working on site in Thabazimbi, SA.

Responsibilities include safety meetings, risk assessments, task allocation, breakdown response, and ensuring availability of materials, spares and equipment. English proficiency and a valid code 08 license are essential.

Qualifications

• English literacy (speak, read and write)
• Must be able to do standby and overtime
• Must be familiar with risk assessments procedures
• Valid driving license code 08
• Basic computer skills

Responsibilities

• Attend and conduct Safety meetings
• Conducts and participate in Risk assessments
• Allocate tasks to subordinates
• Attend to Breakdowns and emergencies as required
• Ensure that material, spares and equipment are available as required
• Provide proper on the job training and coaching to subordinates
• Comply with environmental requirements
• Exercise judgment with regards to replacement of components
• Maintain high quality of work
• Provide timely and accurate information
• Record results of all legal examinations in the format
• Work in a sequence prioritizing work requirements
• Complete job cards and describe work and spares used (PMs)
• Perform work to required standards and specifications
• Apply appropriate tools to complete tasks

Job Description

This role has a 2.9.2 appointment in terms of the MHSA, Act of 1996: Maintain, install and commission of the machinery and equipment to an agreed standard in the area of responsibility.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or equivalent
• Certified Competent as Diesel Mechanic
