Job summary

Valterra Platinum is recruiting for a Diesel Mechanic role based in Mokopane, Limpopo. The position reports to the Senior Engineering Foreman and requires a Grade 12, Technical N2, and a Diesel Mechanic trade certificate. You will perform inspections, maintenance, and repairs, ensuring safety, quality, and compliance with environmental standards.

Applicants should be capable of standby and overtime, have basic computer skills, and be English literate. A Code 8 driver’s license is required.

Responsibilities

• Attend and conduct safety meetings.
• Conduct risk assessments.
• Allocate tasks to subordinates.

• Ensure material, spares and equipment are available.
• Provide on-the-job training and coaching to subordinates.
• Comply with environmental requirements.
• Maintain high quality of work and timely, accurate information.
• Complete job cards and spares used (PMs).
• Operate with appropriate tools to complete tasks.

Job Description

Job responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

• Attend and conduct Safety meeting
• Conducts and participate in Risk assessments
• Allocate tasks to subordinates
• Attend to Breakdowns and emergencies as required
• Ensure that material, spares and equipment are available as required
• Ensure proper and adequate on the job training and coaching is provided to subordinates
• Comply to environmental requirements
• Exercise judgment with regards to replacement of components
• Maintains a high quality of work
• Timely and accurate information
• Records results of all legal examinations in the appropriate format
• Works in a sequence that prioritizes work requirements
• Completing job cards and description of work and spares used (PM's)
• Performing work to the required standards and specifications
• Applying appropriate tools to complete tasks

This role is at a Band C2 level reporting to the Senior Engineering Foreman
