Job summary

Pro-Match Recruitment is seeking a motivated individual in Stellenbosch to start a career as a Diesel Mechanic. This traineeship focuses on servicing, fault finding, and learning to work on diesel engines, transmissions, brakes and other mechanical systems under qualified supervision.

You will gain hands-on experience, develop practical skills, and learn safety procedures while contributing to routine maintenance tasks and workshop activities within a team environment.

Qualifications

• Matric / Grade 12 is required or advantageous.
• Relevant mechanical studies or qualification will be advantageous.
• Previous workshop or mechanical exposure will be beneficial.
• Strong interest in becoming a qualified Diesel Mechanic.
• Willingness to learn and develop practical skills.
• Good problem-solving ability.
• Hardworking, reliable and safety-conscious.
• Ability to work well as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Assist qualified Diesel Mechanics with servicing and repairing diesel vehicles and equipment.
• Learn to diagnose mechanical faults and assist with fault-finding.
• Assist with routine maintenance and preventative maintenance.
• Learn to work on engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension and other mechanical components.
• Assist with stripping, repairing and assembling mechanical components.
• Assist with vehicle inspections and identifying mechanical problems.
• Use workshop tools and equipment safely and correctly.
• Complete basic job cards and maintenance records.
• Keep the workshop and work area clean and organised.
• Follow all health and safety procedures and instructions from senior technicians.
• Gain practical experience and develop technical skills under the guidance of qualified mechanics.
