Job summary

Boardroom Appointments in Kempton Park is seeking a trade-tested diesel technician responsible for on-vehicle diagnostics, inspections, and maintenance of heavy commercial vehicles. You will work from the workshop, interpret job cards, and ensure repairs align with manufacturer specifications and schedules.

The role requires attention to detail, safety compliance, and the ability to communicate issues to the Workshop Foreman.

Qualifications

• Must be a trade-tested commercial vehicle Diesel Technician.
• Experience with pre-diagnosis and diagnostic tools advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of manufacturer maintenance schedules.

Responsibilities

• Conduct visual inspections and on-board diagnosis during pre-diagnosis.
• Receive workshop job card and verify accuracy.
• Ensure flat rates on repairs are adhered to.
• Attend to office hour and after hour breakdowns.
• Sign-off on job cards.
• Ensure all parts used are booked to the job card.
• Prepare equipment and bring necessary parts to the service bay.
• Perform maintenance per manufacturer specifications and schedules.
• Identify anomalies and communicate to the Workshop Foreman.
• Reset maintenance systems and reconditioned parts as needed.
• Inspect parts and replace with new or reconditioned parts.
• Document returns of old parts and sign off on repairs.
• Ensure vehicle is roadworthy after repairs and maintain safety standards.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct visual inspections and/or on-board diagnosis during the pre-diagnosis
• Receive the workshop job card and check its content for accuracy and understanding
• Ensure flat rates on repairs are adhered to
• Attend to office hour & after hour breakdowns
• Job card sign-off
• Ensure all parts used on the job is booked to the job card, ie engine oils
• Prepare operating equipment and bring the necessary parts to the service bay
• Perform all maintenance services by manufacturer specifications and themaintenance schedule/maintenance computer
• Perform all visual inspections, calibration work, adjustments, etc
• Identify deviations, irregularities, and unusual wear and tear and initiate additions to order andfeedback to the Workshop Foreman
• Reset maintenance systems as per internal processes and procedures
• Reset dismantled parts and prepare their return to the supplier, if there are parts that can bereconditioned
• Inspect disassembled and dismantled parts and replace them with new or reconditioned parts
• Return parts (old/unusable parts) and document the work carried out
• Compare the current state of the vehicle with common production configurations and evaluate itstechnical condition
• Perform final checks on the vehicle being repaired, using testing and measuring equipment toensure repairs have been carried out in full, and that the vehicle is roadworthy and functionally reliable
• Maintain professional conduct
• Assist in relevant operations/operational functions as required
• Ensure dress code is by company Standard Operating Procedures
• Ensure standards of Health and Safety are maintained
