Job summary

Boardroom Appointments seeks a Trade Tested Diesel Technician for on-site servicing in Gqeberha. You will perform pre-diagnosis visual inspections and on-board diagnostics, verify workshop job cards, and ensure accurate parts and flat-rate adherence.

After-hour breakdowns and thorough vehicle checks are routine to ensure roadworthiness. The role requires certification as a diesel technician with commercial vehicle experience and adherence to safety and maintenance procedures.

Qualifications

• Trade-tested diesel technician with certification.
• Experience with commercial vehicle maintenance is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct visual inspections and on-board diagnosis during pre-diagnosis.
• Receive the workshop job card and verify accuracy and understanding.
• Ensure flat rates on repairs are adhered to.
• Attend to office hour and after-hour breakdowns.
• Sign off job cards after work is completed.
• Book parts used on the job card (e.g., engine oils).
• Prepare tools and bring necessary parts to the service bay.
• Perform maintenance per manufacturer specs and schedule.

Job description

• Must be Trade Tested (Commercial Vehicle) Diesel Technician

Responsibilities:

• Conduct visual inspections and/or on board diagnosis during the pre diagnosis
• Receive the workshop job card and check its content for accuracy and understanding
• Ensure flat rates on repairs are adhered to
• Attend to office hour and after hour breakdowns
• Job card sign off
• Ensure all parts used on job is booked to job card, ie engine oils
• Prepare operating equipment and bring the necessary parts to the service bay
• Perform all maintenance services in accordance with manufacturers specifications and themaintenance schedule/maintenance computer
  Perform all visual inspections, calibration work, adjustments etc
  Identify deviations, irregularities and unusual wear and tear and initiate additions to order andfeedback to the Workshop Foreman
• Reset maintenance systems as per internal processes and procedures
• Reset dismantled parts and prepare their return to supplier, if there are parts that can bereconditioned
• Inspect disassembled and dismantled parts and replace them with new or reconditioned parts
• Return parts (old/unusable parts) and document the work carried out
• Compare the current state of the vehicle with common production configurations and evaluate itstechnical condition
• Perform final checks on the vehicle being repaired, using testing and measuring equipment toensure repairs have been carried out in full, and that the vehicle is roadworthy and functionallyreliable
• Maintain professional conduct
• Assist in relevant operations/operational functions as required
• Ensure dress code is in accordance with company Standard Operating Procedures
• Maintain housekeeping standards on a daily basis
• Ensure standards of Health and Safety are maintained
