Job summary

Tsu in Strand, Western Cape, is seeking a Diesel Mechanic to maintain and repair diesel-powered vehicles and machinery, ensuring optimal performance. The role is based in Strand and requires residency in the Helderberg area.

You will inspect, diagnose, and repair equipment, perform routine maintenance, and keep detailed service records. Strong communication in English and Afrikaans, together with a valid licence and reliable transport, are essential.

Qualifications

• Qualified Diesel Mechanic.
• Reside in Helderberg area (Strand, Somerset West, Stellenbosch).
• Grade 11/12.
• Computer literate (Word, Excel).
• Valid Driver's Licence.
• Own reliable transport.
• Toyota experience.
• Knowledge of diesel engine components is an advantage.
• Good attention to detail.
• Maintains detailed service records.
• Maintains parts inventory.
• Good organization skills.
• No criminal record.
• Excellent communication skills (English & Afrikaans).
• Good physical condition.
• Good health (no chronic conditions affecting daily tasks).

Responsibilities

• Inspection and Diagnosis: inspect vehicles and machinery to identify mechanical problems such as engine, transmission, steering or braking issues.
• Repair and Maintenance: perform repairs and maintenance from routine oil changes to engine overhauls or component replacements.
• Diagnostic Testing: use diagnostic tools to identify and analyze problems and pinpoint causes.
• Record Keeping: maintain records of repairs, maintenance and potential future issues.
• Communication: discuss repairs with owners and advise on best maintenance practices.
• Coordination and Management: may order parts, manage inventory and coordinate with teammates.
