Placements24 seeks a skilled DevOps Engineer to join our Mossel Bay IT team and drive deployment automation, cloud infrastructure, and reliable operations.

You will work with AWS/Azure/GCP, Docker, Kubernetes, and IaC tools, collaborating with developers to implement CI/CD, monitoring, and security best practices while participating in on-call rotations to ensure uptime.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience as a DevOps Engineer or similar role.
• Strong experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Hands-on Docker and Kubernetes experience.
• Scripting in Bash, Python, PowerShell.
• Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps).
• Familiarity with IaC tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible).
• Understanding of networking, security, and monitoring.
• Excellent problem-solving and collaboration skills.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a talented and experienced DevOps Engineer to join their growing IT department in Mossel Bay, Western Cape. This role is instrumental in bridging the gap between software development and IT operations, focusing on automating and streamlining our deployment pipelines, infrastructure management, and system reliability. You will work with modern technologies, including cloud platforms, containerization, and CI/CD tools, to ensure efficient and scalable delivery of our software products. The ideal candidate has a strong background in systems administration, scripting, and a passion for automation. You will play a key role in enhancing our operational efficiency, improving system uptime, and supporting our development teams in delivering high-quality software. Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable and reliable cloud infrastructure (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines for automated building, testing, and deployment.
• Manage and orchestrate containerized applications using Kubernetes.
• Develop and maintain infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools like Terraform or Ansible.
• Monitor system performance, identify issues, and implement solutions to ensure high availability.

Requirements

• Strong experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Hands-on experience with containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes.
• Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python, PowerShell).
• Experience implementing and managing CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps).
• Familiarity with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible).
• Understanding of networking concepts, security principles, and monitoring tools.
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
