Job summary

Recruit-It in Gauteng is seeking a senior governance professional with at least 5 years' experience in retirement or related financial services to drive fund governance and regulatory compliance. The role involves engaging with Trustees/Boards, interpreting the Pension Funds Act requirements, and translating legislation into practical business solutions.

You will advise senior management and the Board, ensuring adherence to statutory obligations and effective governance across the fund

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience within retirement/pension/fund governance or related financial services.
• Experience in senior roles such as Principal Officer, Fund Secretary or governance/compliance.
• Strong understanding of retirement fund governance and regulatory requirements.
• Working knowledge of the Pension Funds Act and FSCA requirements.
• Experience engaging with Trustees/Boards, administrators and service providers.
• Ability to interpret legislation and translate into practical business requirements.
• Strong governance, risk management, analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Job description

Minimum requirements:

• Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience within the retirement fund, pension fund, provident fund, employee benefits or related financial services environment.
• Previous experience in a Principal Officer, Deputy Principal Officer, Fund Secretary, Retirement Fund Governance, Fund Administration, Compliance or similar senior role would be advantageous.
• Strong understanding of retirement fund governance and regulatory requirements.
• Working knowledge of the Pension Funds Act and relevant FSCA requirements.
• Experience engaging with Trustees/Boards of Trustees, administrators, auditors, actuaries and other fund service providers.
• Experience with regulatory submissions, fund governance, compliance monitoring and statutory requirements.
• Understanding of retirement fund rules, member benefits and fund administration processes.
• Strong ability to interpret legislation, regulations and fund rules and translate these into practical business requirements.
• Strong governance, risk management, analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to operate independently and provide guidance to senior management and the Board/Trustees.
