Placements24 is recruiting a DeFi Protocol Engineer for our Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal office. You will design, develop, and deploy secure DeFi smart contracts, focusing on robust protocol implementations and scalable tokenomics.

The role requires deep knowledge of Solidity, AMMs, and yield mechanics, with 4+ years in DeFi. You will collaborate with product and engineering teams to advance our cutting-edge DeFi offerings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS, Math, Economics, or related field.
• 4+ years of smart contract development experience in DeFi.
• Proficient with Solidity and DeFi protocols.
• Experience with testing, auditing, and formal verification.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy high-quality smart contracts for DeFi applications (lending, borrowing, trading, yield farming).
• Implement and optimize tokenomics models and economic incentives within DeFi protocols.
• Conduct rigorous testing, auditing, and formal verification of smart contracts to ensure security.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to define protocol specifications and features.
• Research and integrate new blockchain technologies and DeFi trends into protocol development.
• Monitor and analyze the performance and security of live DeFi protocols.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to smart contracts and protocol logic.
• Contribute to the technical roadmap and strategic vision for DeFi offerings.

About the Role

This role is central to the innovation and development of robust, secure, and efficient DeFi protocols and smart contracts. Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy high-quality smart contracts for various DeFi applications (e.g., lending, borrowing, trading, yield farming).

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Economics, or a related field.
• Demonstrable experience (4+ years) in smart contract development, with a specific focus on DeFi protocols.
• Proficiency in Solidity and experience with relevant development tools (e.g., Hardhat, Truffle, Foundry).
• Strong understanding of DeFi concepts such as AMMs, lending protocols, stablecoins, and derivatives.
• Knowledge of economic principles and game theory as applied to decentralized systems.
• Experience with blockchain analysis and monitoring tools.
• Ability to write clean, efficient, and well-documented code.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing potential risks.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills, essential for our Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal team.
