About the Role

Our client is a cutting-edge decentralized finance (DeFi) company seeking an innovative DeFi Protocol Engineer to join their team in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga . This role is critical for developing and enhancing the protocols that underpin our DeFi ecosystem. You will have the opportunity to work on groundbreaking financial products built on blockchain technology. This is a hybrid position, allowing for collaborative sessions in our Nelspruit office combined with remote flexibility. If you possess a strong understanding of smart contracts, DeFi mechanisms, and a passion for financial innovation, this is the role for you.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy smart contracts for various DeFi protocols (e.g., lending, borrowing, AMMs, yield farming).
• Write secure, efficient, and well-tested smart contracts in Solidity.
• Collaborate with product managers and other engineers to define protocol features and tokenomics.
• Conduct thorough code reviews and security audits of DeFi protocols.
• Research and implement new DeFi strategies and financial primitives.
• Stay updated on the latest trends and advancements in the DeFi and blockchain space.
• Integrate DeFi protocols with external services and blockchain networks.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to smart contract execution and protocol performance in Nelspruit .
• Contribute to the architectural design and technical roadmap of our DeFi offerings.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Finance, or a related field.
• Proven experience in smart contract development, particularly in the DeFi space.
• Strong proficiency in Solidity and experience with DeFi frameworks and tools (e.g., OpenZeppelin, Hardhat).
• Deep understanding of DeFi concepts such as liquidity pools, yield farming, stablecoins, and governance.
• Familiarity with blockchain explorers and analytics tools.
• Experience with Git and collaborative development workflows.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid model, balancing independent work with team collaboration in Nelspruit .
