In South Africa, Mellenu Holding is represented by SPRING LOANS, and we are currently looking for a Debt Collection Analyst to join the team!
Your daily tasks will be:
- Prepare daily, weekly, monthly, annual, and other periodic reports, as well as ad hoc reports as requested
- Perform ad hoc reporting and provide analytical support to the Collections and senior management teams
- Develop analyses, business cases, and presentations for senior management
- Analyze current business performance and provide actionable recommendations for improvement
- Deliver accurate reporting and performance analyses against historical data, budgets, and targets to support business decision-making
- Develop, implement, and continuously optimize end-to-end collections strategies across different customer segments and delinquency buckets
- Analyze portfolio performance, customer behavior, roll rates, recovery trends, and channel effectiveness to identify opportunities for collections strategy optimization
- Develop and monitor collections strategies across various channels, including digital, call center, field, legal, and external agencies
- Develop and optimize debit-check strategies, including customer segmentation, eligibility rules, activation and payment strategies, retry logic, timing, and communication approaches to maximize successful collections
- Analyze debit-check performance and customer payment behavior, translating insights into actionable strategy improvements
- Develop and monitor collections KPIs (e.g., Recovery Rate, PTP, Kept PTP, Gross Efficiency, Roll Rates, and Flow Rates) and identify key performance drivers
- Support Collections Management, Legal, and Finance teams through data-driven analyses and recommendations
- Assist in the development and implementation of strategic and operational projects within the Collections function
- Propose and implement initiatives to improve the company’s financial and other key performance indicators
- Work closely with Collections, Product, Risk, Finance, Data & Analytics, and other stakeholders to design and implement collections initiatives
- Monitor the impact of implemented strategies and drive continuous improvement based on data, portfolio performance, and customer behavior
What we expect from you:
Education:
- Economics and Mathematics (Economic theory, applied mathematics, finance, and mathematical statistics)
- Computer Science (Data analysis, databases, programming, and information technology)
Experience working in:
- E-commerce, marketing
- Consulting (BIG3, BIG4)
Required technical skills:
- SQL: Proficient in any dialect (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MS SQL). Experienced with CTEs, window functions, complex queries, and stored procedures
- Mathematical Statistics: Knowledge of various distributions, correlation analysis, regression models, and hypothesis testing
- Excel (Advanced Level): Skilled in data sorting, filtering, pivot tables, VLOOKUP, SUMIF/SUMIFS, and chart creation
- BI Tools: Power BI preferred, but experience with other tools such as Tableau, Grafana, Looker, QlikView, or Apache Superset is also acceptable
- A/B Testing: Understanding of split testing principles, test planning, and logging
Beneficial technical abilities:
- Python: Data analysis using libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, SciPy, Statsmodels, Seaborn, Matplotlib, etc.
- ETL Processes: Experience with tools like Airflow, Pentaho, and others
- IT Understanding: Knowledge of client-server architecture, APIs, back-end and front-end concepts, parsing, algorithms, and data structures
- Project Management: Familiar with Agile methodologies (e.g., sprints), as well as Waterfall
- Project Management Tools: Experience with Jira, Asana, ActiveCollab, ClickUp, Notion, etc.
