Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Data Security Officer in Sandton to lead the protection of data and ensure regulatory compliance. The role focuses on implementing robust security measures, conducting risk assessments, and promoting security awareness across the organization.

You will oversee encryption, access controls, and DLP, manage incident responses, and monitor data usage to prevent breaches while driving data protection initiatives in a hybrid work setup.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Security, Law, or related field.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in data security, privacy, or compliance.
• Knowledge of data protection laws and regulations; certifications are advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement data security strategies and policies.
• Ensure compliance with POPIA and GDPR.
• Conduct data security risk assessments and mitigation.
• Oversee encryption, access controls, and DLP measures.
• Manage data breach responses including investigations and notifications.
• Deliver security awareness training for staff.
• Monitor data access and audit usage to prevent unauthorized activities in Sandton.
